Announcements Our first donation will be made in March. Thank you so much to all the volunteers who are working so hard! Here are our donation totals so far: Hats: 12 Keep the donations coming! We want to provide the best we can for the precious little ones at Children’s Hosptial.
Here are a few tips for you as you make items to be donated: ~Softer yarns (such as baby yarns) are more comfortable. Caron Simply Soft is a very soft yarn (and is 100% Acrylic and Machine Washable & Dryable) ~We need all sizes of baby hats and booties. Make some small for preemies, but keep the bigger babies in mind too. ~Wool is not preferred because some babies are allergic to animal fibers--plus wool yarns tend to be less soft. Classic Red Heart yarn is very rough as well. ~I’ll be washing all the items before donating them, so you don’t have to. :o)

Bev's NEWBORN ROUNDIE HATS, HATS, HATS! Less than 1 oz baby or sport yarn OR soft worsted weight yarn. Someone sent me scraps of Caron Cuddlesoft yarn (I love it!!) TOP- down: Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc into the base of the Ch 3. * 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, Repeat from * around making sure to dc into the base of the ch 3. (23 sts including ch3) Join with a slip stitch in top of 1st dc of previous rnd. Do the 3rd round the same as the 2nd. (35 dcs including ch3) Rnds 4 - 10: Ch 3 and make a dc in the same stitch, then dc in each dc around including into base of ch3 of the previous row, joining with a sl st in the top of the 1st dc of the round you just finished.. (Stitch counts: rnd 4 = 36, rnd 5 = 37 - increasing by 1 each rnd) You can do a final loopy row of ch 4 skip a dc, sc into the next, ch 4, skip a dc, sc into the next etc. Little flower: Ch 8, join with a sl st in the first chain, ch 8, join again in that first chain, repeat to make 6 loops/petals. Thread the 2 ends (starting and ending yarn) into the hat, about 1 dc apart. Tie them together 3 times inside the hat. Mandy’s tip: For a bigger hat work rnd 4 like rounds 2 and 3. We need bigger sizes too.
